About the game
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World stars Bianca and Nera, two of the main characters from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. With both their fathers fallen ill, the girls are searching for the fabled Leaves of Life. A strange creature called Fluffy leads them to the Kingdom of Witherwood, where the leaves grow, but malevolent forces have all but wiped them out. Given the power to befriend monsters, the pair set out to bring the world back to life.
It is a Monsters-series RPG: more than 500 monsters, from across Dragon Quest or brand new, to recruit (some even ask to join), level up and combine two at a time through synthesis to create new ones. The monsters do the fighting while you issue orders or pick their tactics. You play as Bianca or Nera and can switch whenever you like.
You explore varied regions, from beaches of year-round summer to fields of giant vegetables and even the ocean floor. A day-night cycle changes how monsters behave. Any monster in your party can follow you around, whatever its type or size.
Online, you can battle players worldwide, from serious tournaments to friendly matches. A free demo covers the first chapter, and up to eight monsters recruited in it carry over to the full game.
