Football Manager 27: what to know before the free trial and launch
Football Manager 27 launches November 10, with a free trial from October 29: platforms, Game Pass, new tactical systems, matchday and interface changes.
Football Manager 27 launches on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, on the same day across PC, consoles and mobile, and it's free to play from Thursday, October 29 on PC and Mac. Sports Interactive describes this entry as building firmer foundations on last year's. Here's what you need to know.
Platforms and Game Pass
- PC and Mac: Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Xbox PC app.
- Consoles: Football Manager 27 Console, on PS5 and Xbox Series.
- Mobile: Football Manager 27 Mobile, with a Netflix subscription.
The game is included from launch in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. On PC, it costs £49.99 / €59.99 / $59.99.
The free trial and early access
From Thursday, October 29 at 6 PM GMT to Tuesday, November 3 at 6 PM GMT, Football Manager 27 is free to play on PC and Mac, via Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store and Game Pass, with no sign-up and every game mode.
After the trial, players who pre-order can keep playing early until launch, and saves carry over to the full game. Sega warns that some club and player data may still be incomplete during that period.
What's new
Sports Interactive has revealed its new features one by one over the past few weeks. The main ones:
- Tactical Effectiveness: a new system that measures how well your squad can execute your tactics. It links recruitment, training and tactical choices, and replaces the old Tactical Familiarity. The more complex your instructions, the smarter your players need to be to follow them.
- Reworked training: it moves into the main navigation bar, and sessions are built around the next match and opponent.
- Tactical Tweaks: during matches, you can issue real-time instructions to exploit gaps in the opposition's defence, and new Player Instructions give you more control over how your team attacks the box.
- Matchday: crowds, stadiums and atmosphere have been upgraded.
- A livelier world: smarter news and the return of events like Cup Draws and Transfer Deadline Day.
- Interface: clearer, with key decisions front and centre and more customisation options.
A good time to judge for yourself
The free trial comes at the right time: it lets you see these changes for yourself, and decide whether to buy, play through Game Pass or wait. Every date is on the game page.
