Shrek 2 Remastered on November 10: platforms, four-player co-op and what is new
The remaster of 2004's Shrek 2 game launches Tuesday, November 10 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch and PC, with four-player co-op and rebuilt visuals.
DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered launches on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Aspyr is bringing back the co-op action-adventure game based on the animated movie, first released in 2004 on that generation's consoles. Announced at the October 20 ID@Xbox Showcase, it arrives on five platforms at once.
Which platforms
- Xbox Series and PC (Steam), announced by Xbox Wire and the Steam page;
- PS5, according to its PlayStation Store page, with DualSense vibration support;
- Switch 2 and Switch, according to Nintendo's eShop: two separate versions, both playable in TV, tabletop and handheld modes.
The game is digital only for now: no boxed edition has been announced. European prices aren't shown yet on the official pages we checked.
The 2004 game, with co-op for up to four
You travel through the kingdom of Far Far Away, from Shrek's swamp to Fiona's castle, following the film's big moments. The core idea is unchanged: you can swap heroes at any time to use their abilities to beat enemies, take down bosses or solve puzzles. Levels also hide Easter eggs to track down.
Co-op is at the heart of it. You can play solo or with up to four players, on the same screen, online, or a mix of both (two on the couch and two online, for example). Online play requires the console's subscription: PlayStation Plus on PS5, Nintendo Switch Online on Switch 2 and Switch.
What the remaster changes
Aspyr has rebuilt the visuals: sharper textures, a reworked interface, improved cutscenes and up to 4K resolution. Two features are new:
- a Photo Mode, to freeze the action and frame your shots;
- a Cheat Mode, in the spirit of the cheat codes of the time.
The Switch 2 version is about 6.5 GB according to the eShop, which notes this information may still change before launch.
A trailer that riffs on GTA VI
The announcement trailer parodies Grand Theft Auto VI's trailers, VGC points out: a pointed nod, since Shrek 2 Remastered launches nine days before Rockstar's game, due on Thursday, November 19. The date and platforms are also on the game's page.
