Witchbrook finally has a date, PlayStation Plus reveals its November lineup and Sony brings back see-through controllers: here's what happened yesterday, ahead of four launches today.
Witchbrook launches January 28, 2027
Chucklefish opened Wednesday's Indie World by dating Witchbrook for Thursday, January 28, 2027 on Switch 2 and Switch, according to Nintendo, with the same date on its Steam page for the PC version. The life sim has you enrol as a trainee witch at Witchbrook College in the seaside town of Mossport, solo or with up to four players online. First planned for 2025 and then pushed to 2026, as PC Gamer recalls, it had never had a firm date until now.
Indie World: Slime Rancher 2 and R.E.P.O. head to Switch 2
Slime Rancher 2 comes to Switch 2 in January 2027, with R.E.P.O., an online co-op horror game about hauling valuables out of procedurally generated levels, following later in 2027. Giant Squid's Sword of the Sea, from the team behind ABZÛ and The Pathless, has you surfing across sand and waves on Switch 2 starting today. One of the co-creators of Celeste is making City of None, an action platformer due in 2027 on Switch 2 and Switch. Every announcement from the show is listed on Nintendo's site.
PlayStation Plus: Dead Island 2 and Tomb Raider IV-VI in November
Dead Island 2 (PS5, PS4), Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered (PS5, PS4) and Monster Train 2 (PS5) make up the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for November, available from Tuesday, November 3 to Monday, November 30. The Tomb Raider collection bundles The Last Revelation, Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness, and lets you switch between the original and remastered graphics at any time. You have until Monday, November 2 to add October's games, F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, to your library.
Sony brings back see-through controllers on February 4
The Prism Collection, transparent DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, launches on Thursday, February 4, 2027. The clear back of the controller shows off its internals, a deliberate nod to the see-through gadgets of the late '90s. Recommended prices are $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 for the controller and $74.99 / €74.99 / £64.99 for a cover. Pre-orders open on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:00 local time (7:00 PT in the US), with covers sold only directly by PlayStation where it ships.
Modern Warfare 4: Season 1 starts November 6
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 kicks off on Friday, November 6 with three multiplayer maps, Backstab, Canyon and a snowy take on Shoot House set in North Korea, plus the return of the Grind and Drop Zone modes. In DMZ, you push into X01, a tunnel-riddled weapons factory whose extraction points shut down one after another. Warzone gets two maps, Hajin and Zodiac. Buy the battle pass mid-season and a new catch-up system automatically grants the rewards for the days already gone, up to day 50.
Titan Quest II gets pricier on November 6
Titan Quest II, in Early Access on Steam, goes from $34.99 / €34.99 to $39.99 / €39.99 on Friday, November 6, then to $49.99 / €49.99 when version 1.0 launches on Tuesday, January 19, 2027, the team announced. With no pre-orders on PC, everyone who bought the game during Early Access will get a PC-exclusive companion, with details still to come.
No Man's Sky gets spooky with FORSAKEN
Hello Games released FORSAKEN, No Man's Sky's Halloween update, on Wednesday. Derelict hulks and infested outposts in deep space hide organic mementos that strange traders swap for biomechanical corvette modules. You can also take on package courier missions and warp from system to system by flying straight at the stars you see in the sky. It's the fifth major update of the year, a month after COSMOS.
Rayman Legends Retold: an Astro Bot costume on PS5
On PS5, Rayman Legends Retold, due Thursday, December 3, will offer an Astro Bot costume from your first visit to Victor Velours, the game's tailor. The exclusive outfit returns the favour after Rayman's appearance in Astro Bot in 2024.
Today's releases
Four games from our calendar launch today: Phantom Blade Zero on PS5 and PC, The Wolf Among Us Remastered on PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC, Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos on PC.
