The Wolf Among Us Remastered: what to know before the October 29 launch

The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on Thursday, October 29, 2026 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Telltale and publisher PM Studios are bringing back the 2013 adventure based on the Fables comics, with reworked presentation, a new Noir Mode and bonus content. Here's what to know before you go back in, or play it for the first time.

The story

The story is set before the first issue of the Fables comics. Fairy tale characters live secretly in New York, in a neighborhood called Fabletown. You play Bigby Wolf, the former Big Bad Wolf turned the community's sheriff, as he investigates a string of murders: interrogating suspects, examining crime scenes and unraveling a conspiracy.

As in every Telltale game, your choices shape dialogue, relationships and how the citizens of Fabletown see Bigby. The remaster brings all five episodes, originally released separately, together in one game. The story is unchanged.

What the remaster changes

Telltale lists improved lighting, updated animation, refined environments and modernized presentation. The studio describes this version as "rebuilt for modern platforms".

Noir Mode

This is the headline feature. Noir Mode lets you play the whole story in black and white, in the spirit of classic detective films. You can turn it on at any time and switch back to the remastered color look with one tap.

Extras

The remaster includes more than an hour of material on the making of the game: cast interviews, developer commentary, concept art, restored content and playable deleted scenes.

Platforms and editions

According to the Telltale and PM Studios announcement, the game launches on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, playable on Xbox Series X|S. On PS5 it unlocks at 04:00 UTC. Boxed editions will follow in early 2027.
