Grand Theft Auto VI's launch trailer, Sega pulling Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition and the end of RuneScape Reignited led Thursday's news.
GTA VI gets its launch trailer
Rockstar released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on Thursday, just over a month before release. In it, an easy score goes wrong for Jason and Lucia and pulls them into a criminal conspiracy in Vice City. The game launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series. That makes it eligible for The Game Awards 2026, whose cutoff falls the next day, Friday, November 20, as Eurogamer points out. Its date, platforms and our coverage are gathered on the GTA VI game page.
Sega pulls Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition from sale
Sega and Creative Assembly are pulling the remaster, released Tuesday, October 13 on PC, and putting the original 2011 game back on sale, according to their joint statement quoted by IGN and Gamekult. Both companies admit the edition fell short of expectations, and people who bought it can keep playing. On Steam, players criticize bugs and distorted artwork that some put down to AI upscaling. Sega did not address that point and gave no date for fixes.
Jagex cancels RuneScape Reignited
Jagex canceled RuneScape Reignited on Thursday, less than two weeks after revealing it at RuneFest on October 3: the fresh start would have had everyone begin again with a blank character. Part of the player base feared it would split the community, and creative director Mod Ryan framed the cancellation as a response to that feedback (IGN's report). From December 2 to 12, members' worlds will be free for new characters and for those who haven't had a membership since June 2.
Control Resonant tops one million copies
Remedy announced that Control Resonant has sold over a million copies, three weeks after its digital launch on Thursday, September 24 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC (Gematsu). Physical editions hit stores on Thursday.
Ubisoft plans voluntary departures in Germany
Ubisoft confirmed to Game File that it has opened talks with employee representatives on a voluntary departure plan at its Düsseldorf, Berlin and Mainz studios. According to Game File, around 100 positions are targeted, more than half of them in Düsseldorf; the publisher gave no figure (GamesIndustry.biz). The plan follows the closure of RedLynx and job cuts at Ubisoft Singapore.
Steam sorts achievements into sets
Valve is testing achievement sets in the Steam Client beta: a game can split its achievements between base game and DLC, or between single-player and multiplayer. Each set has its own progress bar, and finishing one adds a trophy to your profile that stays even if achievements are added later. Achievements from DLC you don't own no longer count against your progress, and developers can archive seasonal achievements so they stop blocking completion. Seventeen games already support them, from Portal 2 to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Zero Parades: Director's Cut also hits Switch 2 on November 3
ZA/UM will release the Director's Cut of its espionage RPG on Switch 2 on Tuesday, November 3, the same day as on PS5. On Switch 2, you'll work through conversations and intel with the touchscreen or by pointing a Joy-Con 2 like a mouse. On PS5, the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and controller speaker all come into play. On PC, the expanded version has been a free update since early October, as its page in our release calendar shows.
Peak comes to PS5 on October 22
Peak, the co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall already out on PC, launches Thursday, October 22 on PS5 (PlayStation Blog). Up to four players try to scale the mountain at the heart of a mysterious island while keeping an eye on hunger, injuries and stamina. Cross-play lets you climb with friends on other platforms, and the PS5 version includes every update released since launch.
Out today
On Switch 2, Capcom releases Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. Tales of Eternia Remastered arrives on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch and PC.
