The Save Mass Effect petition passes 200,000 signatures, its technical director details the cancelled game, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 turns ten.
A quiet Sunday was dominated by the fallout from BioWare's closure: the petition to save Mass Effect has passed 200,000 signatures, and the series' technical director described the cancelled game. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, meanwhile, kicks off its 10th anniversary on Tuesday.
Save Mass Effect petition passes 200,000 signatures
Started on Change.org after EA shut down BioWare, the #SaveMassEffect petition crossed 200,000 signatures overnight from Sunday to Monday, according to IGN. It doesn't ask for the studio to reopen: it calls on EA to keep the series going or to license it to another studio, as Eurogamer explains. Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the two voices of Commander Shepard, backed it in videos posted over the weekend. In hers, Hale pictures fans, investors and a game company coming together to bring Mass Effect back.
Mass Effect Universe would have tracked every trilogy choice
Romain Toutain, Mass Effect's franchise technical director, commented live on Twitch on Saturday over the cancelled game's internal trailer, which recently leaked. In his account, every choice from the original trilogy mattered: each save formed its own universe, and a decision could branch off into a new timeline, much like in Zero Time Dilemma. A system constantly checked that the game state held together: if you killed a character a mission depended on, the game would let you finish it another way, or let it fail if the designers wanted that. The goal was to give players "absolute autonomy," he said, in remarks quoted by PC Gamer.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 marks its 10th anniversary with a free update on Tuesday
Bandai Namco releases a free update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Tuesday, October 27, with new login bonuses and special costumes, plus a Gallery of Time addition for owners of the FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 DLC. The Final Festival of Universes starts on Friday, October 30: hard-to-find items return and you earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual. Raising your camaraderie with Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time or Fu unlocks special illustrations. Taking part also earns a new Gi and a commemorative medal, which will unlock items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, due in 2027, once you link your Bandai Namco ID. The game is out on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
