Capcom: 11.7 million CAPCOM ID accounts breached

A third party accessed the email addresses of 11,774,247 CAPCOM ID accounts, the online account used across Capcom games, along with their creation date, last login, login count and last login IP address, the publisher announced on Thursday. For 43 of those accounts, date of birth, gender, country and nickname were also exposed, and 196 passwords were changed without their owners' consent before being reset. No credit card data was involved, and both the games and the service remain available. Be wary of emails and messages posing as Capcom, and don't open their links or attachments. The intrusion was spotted on Monday, October 19, and the investigation is ongoing.

Marvel's Wolverine was September's best seller in the US

Released mid-September as a PS5 exclusive, Marvel's Wolverine was the month's best-selling game in the US, according to Circana data reported by GamesIndustry.biz. In dollar terms, no Sony-published game had had a month this strong since Helldivers 2 in February 2024. PS5 led console sales, with spending up 43% year over year, while Switch 2 unit sales fell 14% and Xbox Series unit sales dropped 27%. NBA 2K27, second for the month, is now the best-selling game of the year in the US, ahead of Resident Evil Requiem.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider lands on Switch 2

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition came out on Switch 2 on Thursday, on its own or as part of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy bundle. The bundle collects Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, with all the DLC released for each. Their online modes require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Peak climbs onto Xbox Series too

Aggro Crab and Landfall's co-op climbing game arrived on Xbox Series X|S on October 22, the same day as its PS5 release. Crossplay lets you form a four-person rope team with friends on other platforms. The mountain changes every day, so you'll need to help each other through tricky sections, place ropes and spikes for those coming behind, and keep an eye on food and injuries, which eat into your stamina.

Gears of War: E-Day gets a Halloween event

A hotfix released on Thursday cuts down on crashes on PC, Xbox and handhelds, and fixes several campaign and Horde Siege blockers. Limited-time Halloween modes come with rewards: in Versus, teams search pumpkins scattered across the map for special weapons, while Horde Siege pits you against the Boogeyman and his gang. The developers are working on another fix for an exploit that lets players see through smoke grenades, and have already taken action against players using it. Versus balance will be reviewed in Season 1 updates.

Riders Republic is free this weekend on Xbox

Every Xbox player can jump into Riders Republic for free until Monday, October 26, no Game Pass required (Free Play Days lineup). Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin also have free three-hour trials. Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members also get Dying Light 2: Stay Human – Reloaded Edition, Let's Build a Zoo and Tropico 6 until Sunday, October 25. Any achievements you earn carry over if you buy the game afterwards.
