Yakuza creator's Nagoshi Studio is dissolved, the studio behind Chronicles: Medieval faces closure, and Selaco doubles in size on November 13.
Two studios in trouble topped yesterday's news: Nagoshi Studio, founded by the creator of Yakuza, has been dissolved, and Raw Power Games fears it may close before Chronicles: Medieval ships. Selaco doubles in size on November 13, and Petit Planet is heading to Switch 2.
Nagoshi Studio, home of the Yakuza creator, has been dissolved
Nagoshi Studio was dissolved on Saturday, October 31, 2026, by resolution of its shareholders' meeting, according to a dissolution notice in Japan's official gazette (Kanpo) published this Monday and spotted by Gematsu. Founded in Tokyo in November 2021 by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the father of the Yakuza series, the studio operated under NetEase Games. Its first game, Gang of Dragon, an action adventure set in Tokyo's Kabukicho district, was unveiled in December 2025.
Chronicles: Medieval at risk after its studio loses funding
Raw Power Games, the Danish studio behind Chronicles: Medieval, has lost its funding and says it is "at real risk of closing" in a message posted on Steam on Friday. It blames "circumstances outside our control" and gives no further detail. The medieval game, built around battles between armies hundreds strong, was due to enter early access in early 2027. The team says it is talking to anyone who might help and is asking players to keep the game on their wishlists.
John Romero's shooter dropped by Xbox finds a new publisher
Doom co-creator John Romero told VGC that the Romero Games shooter Xbox walked away from now has a new publisher, which he can't name yet. It won't be the same game: Romero calls it "a complete redesign", reusing characters, weapons, art and code from the original project. The studio has rehired ten former staff and plans to stay at that smaller size. He can't yet say when the game will be revealed.
Selaco doubles in size on November 13
Selaco's second chapter, The Machines of War, lands on Friday, November 13 as a free update for the retro shooter, which is in early access on Steam. It adds 19 campaign maps, around 6 to 8 hours of play, with an unstoppable machine hunting down the heroine, Dawn. New toys include a minigun, a jetpack and heavy weapons you grab on the battlefield and ditch once they run dry. Enemy AI has been almost entirely rewritten, and foes now patrol their turf, so you can sneak past them or pick the moment to strike. The whole first chapter has been reworked too, with new lighting.
Petit Planet is coming to Switch 2 in 2027
HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact, has announced a Switch 2 version of Petit Planet for 2027, with no exact date, according to IGN and Gematsu. In this free-to-play life sim, you look after your own tiny planet before heading out to explore the little islands in the skies around it. The game first launches on Friday, December 4, 2026, on PC, iOS and Android. The news came at the end of a livestream dedicated to the game, which we were not able to watch ourselves.
