About the game

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is set in Paris in 1499, twenty-three years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The city is burning and overrun by monsters. Trevor Belmont, the hero who defeated Dracula, heads in with his daughter Rose, who bears Dracula's curse in her right arm. She is the playable lead, exploring the streets of Paris, the catacombs and Dracula's castle with the sacred whip, the Vampire Killer.

It is a 2D action-exploration game. The whip is used for combat and also to swing around the map. Defeated bosses, series figures such as Death, Medusa and Carmilla or newcomers such as Joan of Arc, are sealed into Rose's tarot cards as Arcana, granting spells and special actions. Weapons from seven categories and relics shape the fighting style.

The game is developed by Konami and Evil Empire, which handled updates and DLC for Dead Cells, with Motion Twin advising. It offers English or Japanese voices. A demo covering the opening chapter is available, and its save carries over to the full game on the same platform and account. The Midnight Edition adds a sound and art gallery (71 tracks), Trevor- and Sypha-style costumes and a relic. On Switch the game runs at 30 frames per second (60 elsewhere).
