5th weapons only appear on Chaos, the top difficulty. Pick the stage in Free Mode under the tab shown (Original or Xtreme), play the weapon's own officer on the side listed, meet the condition, grab the box and win the stage. In the remaster, the stage briefing and the Database menu also show each condition.
Wei
0 / 0Get Ma Su surrounded: defeat his sub-officer Chen Shi without defeating Ma Su. Then, before Ma Su starts breaking through (charging downhill), defeat Wei Yan, Jiang Wei and Ma Chao. Defeat Jiang Wei before Ma Chao, or Jiang Wei retreats.
Let the event where Taishi Ci falls into Zhang Liao's trap and dies play out (don't defeat Taishi Ci yourself). Then defeat Lu Xun, and Gan Ning when he arrives with his surprise-attack reinforcements.
Defeat Lu Xun, Lu Meng, Sun Shangxiang and Gan Ning, in any order and with no time limit.
Defeat Huang Zhong within about 5 minutes of the start.
Get Han Sui to defect, and defeat Cheng Yin yourself. Clear the way by defeating Pang De and Ma Dai (and Cheng Yin) without harming Han Sui. Cao Cao then meets him, and Han Sui defects later in the battle (around the 10:30 mark).
Once the enemy archer towers appear, shoot down every archer in them before the north castle wall falls. You must land the last kill with your own arrows, so leave archer bodyguards at home. Defeating Xiahou Dun and Cao Ren early delays the wall's fall.
Before the 'full attack' message at about 9:00, defeat Lu Xun, Lu Meng, Sun Shangxiang and Gan Ning, in that order.
Get Han Sui to defect, and defeat Cheng Yi yourself. Defeat Pang De and Ma Dai, never attack Han Sui, and let Cao Cao meet him so he defects later.
Defeat Xu Zhu, Xiahou Yuan, Zhang Liao, Cao Zhen, Dian Wei and Xu Huang in that order. Xiahou Yuan and Zhang Liao must fall quickly.
Burn Yuan Shao's supply depot at Wuchao, but the real depot must be the fourth (last) fort you enter. Enter the three decoy forts first, then defeat Chun Yuqiong in the real one. The depot's position is random, so save before entering each fort.
Shu
0 / 0Defeat every main enemy officer, leaving Zhurong for last (Meng Huo doesn't count). Sub-officers are optional, and you don't need to beat Meng Huo all 7 times. If you defeat another officer after Zhurong, the weapon won't appear.
Defeat Pang De, Lu Xun, Gan Ning and Lu Meng in that order. Defeat Pang De yourself before the flood; he must not die in it. After the flood, the Wu reinforcements (Lu Meng, Lu Xun, Gan Ning) arrive in the south. If Lu Meng falls first, Lu Xun and Gan Ning retreat.
Start from Huang Zhong's position at the summit and ride a horse down the central slope until the 'downhill charge succeeded' message appears. Falling off is fine if you remount and keep going, but walking down doesn't count. Then defeat Cao Hong. Japanese guides add a step before the charge: defeat Zhang He and Xiahou Yuan to trigger the 'Liu Bei's army advances' event. English FAQs don't mention this step, but doing it first is the safe route.
Reach 1,000 KOs. Japanese guides say the KOs must come after the fire attack: keep Mi Zhu and Han Dang alive so Zhuge Liang's prayer succeeds, then keep Zhou Yu and Huang Gai alive so the fire attack succeeds. KOs by player 2 count too.
When Ma Su is ambushed and surrounded (Zhang He must still be alive), rescue him by defeating Xin Pi before Ma Su falls. Japanese guides say defeating Zhang He at that moment also counts.
While Pang Tong is still alive, defeat either Liu Xun or Liu Han.
Stop Wu's fire attack, then defeat Lu Xun. To stop it, defeat Zhu Ran on the narrow mountain path before he reaches the map center. Japanese guides add a second way: defeating Lu Xun before the fire attack also stops it, and the weapon appears at once.
Let Wu's fire attack happen: don't defeat Zhu Ran or Lu Xun before it. Wait for an enemy officer to enter the Stone Sentinel maze south of Liu Bei, which brings out the Stone Sentinel ambush. Then defeat Zhu Huan.
Defeat every enemy gate captain to seal all of Wu's entry points. English FAQs also require defeating all enemy officers. Sub-officers are never needed.
Let Huang Gai's fire attack succeed; Xiahou Dun only arrives as reinforcements if it does. Defeat Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan.
Wu
0 / 0Defeat Zhang Ying and Chen Heng within 2 minutes so the east gate opens; otherwise the south gate opens and the route is lost. Then defeat Liu Yong while Taishi Ci, Yan Baihu and Wang Lang are still alive, before the 'forces divide' scene (before Sun Ce nears the southeast fort). Taishi Ci surrenders and the weapon appears.
Keep Cao Xiu and Zhou Fang alive, plus at least one of Zhang He or Zhang Pu, until Sima Yi exposes Zhou Fang's fake defection (around 10 minutes in). This must happen before Cao Xiu is fully surrounded.
Make Sun Quan jump the broken bridge: once he retreats, meet him at the broken bridge in the east. Zhang Liao then ambushes the Wu headquarters; defeat him. Grab the weapon before Sun Quan charges Cao Cao's camp, or the battle ends.
Defeat Guan Ping before the flood, which comes after a while or when you reach his western high ground.
Lead your troops through the arrow-trap and wind-trap corridors and defeat Zhang He and Xu Huang. Once a Wu unit reaches the central pond area, all castle gates open. Defeat the reinforcements Man Chong and Cao Rui (this can happen earlier), then defeat Xu Zhu.
Defeat Zhang Liao before the scene where Taishi Ci falls into his trap, then defeat Xu Zhu. The order matters: Xu Zhu can't fall first.
Defeat Zhang He and Xu Huang. Trigger the archer ambush by entering the building in the central pond. Defeat Xu Zhu before the enemy reinforcements arrive, then defeat those reinforcements, Man Chong and Cao Rui.
Get through the Stone Sentinel maze south of the Shu camp, then defeat Zhuge Liang. Coming in from the north entrance, you still have to step through the maze exit before defeating him.
Defeat He Yi, then Zhang Bao, before any other enemy officer. Gate captains are fine.
Let Sun Jian die: he's killed by the rockslide ambush on the northeast mountain path, which needs Kuai Liang alive. Then defeat Cai Mao.
Let Sun Jian die in the rockslide ambush on the northeast mountain path; Kuai Liang must still be alive for it. Then defeat Kuai Liang.
Defeat Yan Baihu and Wang Lang before Taishi Ci surrenders. He surrenders as soon as Liu Yong falls with Yan Baihu, Wang Lang and Taishi Ci all alive, so leave Liu Yong for later. Neither of the two can be the last enemy of the stage.
Others
0 / 0Defeat Lu Bu, who starts chasing you once you pass the fourth gate. You have 30 minutes for the whole stage.
Defeat the four Wu reinforcement officers: Lu Meng, Huang Gai, Taishi Ci and Gan Ning. Take Lu Meng first, since he threatens Diaochan.
Defeat Pang Tong before his catapults bombard your camp (a scene of them being set up is fine; the firing scene must not play). Keep Fan Chou alive until allied reinforcements arrive (around 7:30). If Fan Chou dies, enemy reinforcements come instead and the weapon is lost.
Defeat Diaochan while Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sun Jian and Lu Bu are all still alive, and before Dong Zhuo's ambush (Li Jue and Guo Si) arrives. Head for her right away.
Get every peasant unit out through the south-central entry point. Peasants advance as enemy officers fall, so clear officers and soldiers from their route. Defeat Zhuge Liang as soon as he ambushes the main camp. Let the peasants escape before you defeat the gate captains behind Meng Huo; there's a reported glitch where they stop moving otherwise.
Defeat Lu Xun, Taishi Ci, Gan Ning and Lu Meng in that order. The stage has a 30-minute limit, so use Red Hare or a fast horse.
Defeat Xiaoqiao, Zhou Yu, Zhenji, Cao Pi and Diaochan. Messages about Zhurong and Meng Huo being unbeatable together then appear, followed by the weapon.
Defeat Dian Wei first, then Xu Huang and Xu Zhu. Don't go too far north early, or an archer ambush triggers and Cao Cao starts fleeing sooner.
Defeat Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liu Bei within about 5 minutes. Zhang Bao must still be alive so his attack message appears. Defeat Liu Bei last, or the brothers retreat.
Defeat every enemy officer except Diaochan, then destroy the transport unit before it retreats.
